Predsednik Južnoafričke Republike Džejkob Zuma saopštio vest o smrti legendarnog borca protiv aparthejda i prvog crnog predsednika te zemlje, koji je imao 95 godina...

Legendarni vođa pokreta borbe aparthejda i prvi tamnoputi predsednik Južnoafričke Republike Nelson Mandela preminuo je u svojoj kući Johanesburgu, u 96. godini života.

Vest o njegovoj smrti saopštio je predsednik Južnoafričke Republike Džejkob Zuma.

Mandela je proveo skoro tri decenije u zatvoru zbog svoje uloge u borbi protiv okončanja vladavine manjinskih belaca i zvanične diskriminacije protiv crnaca u toj zemlji.

Pošto je oslobođen, posato je simbol mira i pomirenja i dobio Nobelovu nagradu za mir 1993. Sledeće godine postao je predsednik svoje zemlje.

Mandela će biti sahranjen uz najveće državne počasti, a predsednik Zuma naredio je da sev zastave budu spuštene na pola koplja od sutra do sahrane.

Svet u žalosti

Povodom Mandeline smrti odmah su se oglasili brojni svetski lideri. Presednik SAD Barak Obama je u obraćanju iz Bele kuće kazao kako je Mendela živeo za ideale slobode i mira te kako je učinio više nego što se se od bilo kog čoveka moglo očekivati.

"Izgubili smo jednog od najuticajnijih, najhrabrijih i izuzetno dobrih ljudi ovog vremena", poručio je Obama.

Generalni sekretar UN, Ban Ki-mun kazao je kako je Mandela bio inspiracija celom svetu.

Oglasili su se i evropski lideri, predsednik Evropske komisije Žoze Manuel Barozo i predsednik Evropskog saveta Herman van Rompuj koji je pozvao da se sećanje na Mandelu iskaže kroz privrženost demokratiji i njenim vrednostima.

Za britanskog premijera Dejvida Kamerona, Nelson Mandela je - kao je objavio na Twitteru, bio "heroj našeg vremena".

Saučeće povodom Mandeline smrti izrazili su i bivši američki predsednik Džordž Buš i Frederik de Klerk, beli predsednik Južnoafričke republike koji je svojevremeno naredio oslobađanje Mandele iz zatvora.
