Jedna od najvećih svetskih migracija zastane svakog marta na jednom skromnom mestu, na ravnici američke države Nebraske, pune kukuruznih polja, smeštenih u središtu Sjedinjenih Država. Dok ljudi mogu preletati ili se voziti kroz to područje velikom brzinom ždralovi se zadržavaju na ovom mestu, pored reke Pate, nalazeći i sklonište i hranu. Prošle godine, rekordnih 1 milion ždralova - oko 85 posto svetske populacije ovih ptica - zaustavilo se na poljima Nebraske na svom migracionom putu ka severu.
